This process involves the cutting of material with a disc laser of power 1kW. This machine is used in the automotive sector. The material in this example is mild steel. Other notes: the disc laser’s high beam quality means it can be delivered via a small diameter fibre optic so that it retains a small spot for high intensity cutting at the workpiece. Fibre optic delivery is particularly convenient for robot automated cutting.
