Machining of nickel: a thin free-standing nickel foil is machined in situ while held on a device. Thin slots are machined in the foil. High quality and precision cuts are possible while surrounding areas are left unaffected except for some fine debris (which can be blown or rinsed off). Nickel foils are used widely in microelectronics medical devices and the fabrication of microelectronic components.
