Advantages of laser beam hardening of turbine blades includes: • outstanding wear properties; • higher fatigue strength; • lower loss of blade ductility at higher surface hardness; • optimum geometry of the protecting zone; • smaller dimensional deviation of the hardened blade; • better reproducibility.
